Barking Dog Complaint Procedure

If you have a barking dog problem in your neighborhood, and you have already discussed the problem with the dog owners and the nuisance barking has not subsided, you may file a complaint in writing with the University Place Police by sending or e-mailing a letter to:

University Place Police
Attn: Jennifer Hales
3631 74
th Avenue West, Suite A
University Place, WA 98466
jhales@co.pierce.wa.us

Please include the following information:

Date
Description of dog(s)
General description of times and dates of barking (ex: weekdays from 5:00PM - 11:00PM)
Dog owner address
Sign the letter

When we receive the letter, we will construct a letter to the dog owner detailing your complaint together with an outline of the University Place Nuisance Barking Ordinance and a request to "call us and let us know what efforts have been taken or will be taken to address the problem." The complainant will receive a copy of the letter sent to the dog owner together with a request to monitor barking more closely after that point to see if there has been any improvement.

If you have questions regarding the University Place Nuisance Barking Ordinance, please call the University Place Police Crime Prevention Unit at (253) 798-3141.
